A time to celebrate!!

David OwusuOn Monday, June 21, 2010, David Owusu became our first ministry-supported college graduate when he completed his degree at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa.  We couldn't be more proud of his accomplishment!

We began corresponding with David about eight years ago after he wrote to Bonnie to ask a question about something she said in one of the devotionals.  After answering David's initial question, we continued to correspond, and a friendship began to grow. Over the years, we've grown so close that David calls us "Mom and Dad", his second set of parents!

In 2006, when David was accepted by the university and was ready to start his Freshman year, we learned that there were some things he needed and those needs weren't being met, so we sent him some money to get what he needed for school.  Since that time, because of the faithfulness and generosity of our supporters, Dogwood Ministries has been able to help David with his needs throughout his four years in college, not only sending money, but also "care packages" with American "goodies" in them, along with some t-shirts from our area.

Throughout his four years of college, David has actively worked in both evangelism and in speaking to the youth of his country, pointing their lives towards living for and serving Jesus.  He's done a tremendous amount of counseling with the youth, hoping to have an effect on the promiscuity problems in the youth culture.  And in 2009, he was selected from his university to address the Ghana Young UN Model Conference which centered around discussions of the eight Millennium goals set by the United Nations.
